Reading Week is almost upon us so it will be quieter than usual around campus next week. There are less events that usual in the UCLU calendar but if you are around there is still quite a bit going on including the Speed Lingua and Malaysian Soc. Mahsuri, which are featured below. Full listings as always can be found on our event calendar. Having said that all UCLU services are operating pretty much normally, the only slight change is that our cafes close an hour earlier than normal.
Thank you to those members who completed the survey about our new website. We are very pleased that views were generally quite positive but there is also a lot of useful information about improvements we can make. You can read more about our findings and future plans here.
Other than that enjoy your reading week and whether you are staying on campus or heading off somewhere don’t forget to do some actual reading! It is a great opportunity to catch up with studies and avoid stress when you reach the end of term.
Have a good week,
James Skuse

Mahsuri at the Bloomsbury by UCLU Malaysian Society
The UCLU Malaysian Society presents a production based on one of Malaysia's most well-known historical legends. When Wan Darus goes off to war, he leaves behind his wife; the beautiful, gentle-natured Mahsuri, to care for their only child. An enigmatic travelling poet soon wanders into the village, and the two strike up a strong friendship. Mahsuri's enemies soon see this as an opportunity to wreak havoc; and a series of betrayal and deception ensues, leading to consequences far more devastating and shocking than any of them could have imagined. This performance takes place on Wednesday 15 February in the Bloomsbury Theatre.
