Kindness at Christmas

All of our Ugandan children are now happily enjoying their long Christmas holidays and in a week or so many of us will be doing that too! For our children Christmas is all about when God showed His face to us and that face was full of kindness. We are so pleased to show them that kindness every day and through the special gifts you send at this time.

Spring Ball!

On Friday 16th March 2012 Helping Hands is hosting a Spring Ball at Witney Lakes in Oxfordshire. Ali Wisbey is organising this fun event and we will hear more about it in January but we thought some of you might like to put that date in your diary. Like Helping Hands' News on Facebook

Bread and Jam

We were thrilled to bless many young girls last month with beautiful "pick-a-pocket" dresses from the online store, "I love Bread and Jam". Culturally girls and women still wear only skirts or dresses in the rural villages of Uganda whereas in the cities western fashions are shaping the look of the modern Ugandan woman. These high quality dresses are ideal for our little ones who wear out cheap fabrics all too quickly! Thanks to Sofia and her team for passing on their old stock to us.

Florence's Future

For over a year, Florence has worked three days a week for us and she has loved it. She told me that mothers see it is a miracle when their children receive a full dose of treatment from us when they are ill! The normal practice is to buy medicine in small quantities and hope that a little can do what a full dose should achieve. Buying a single tablet is very common. We are thrilled with Florence and look forward to seeing her take more children and more schools under her wings in time.

So far we have sent four children solar lanterns this Christmas... they are safe from the fire risk of kerosene or candles and free to run! Send another today if you like. You have also bought 22 hens and 7 goats already.
