Justice for All
Time is running out to contact your MP

Over 1,000 people have already written to their MP but time is running out before the crucial debate in Parliament next week. So if you haven’t already, please write to your MP and forward this email to friends and colleagues. Next week is the last chance MPs have to debate the Bill before it moves to the House of Lords, so it’s vital we make our voices heard now.

How will the cuts affect your area?
We’ve worked out how many people in each area stand to lose out if the cuts go through. The figures - just for social welfare law - show that in Liverpool, the worst-hit area, almost 10,000 people will no longer be able to access legal aid. Download the briefing from the Justice for All site.

Parliament update
The Legal Aid Bill has now finished in Committee Stage, which means there is little time left for MPs to debate it. Next Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday is set aside for Report Stage, which is their last chance to change the Bill before it moves into the House of Lords. Much of the time will be spent on sentencing proposals. In the Lords, the Bill will be carefully looked at, as many peers are experts in this area. Next week we will be asking you to approach peers individually and explain the importance of legal aid.

Once again, thank you for your support.

A third of the country to lose homelessness advice

Justice for All have worked out that a third of the country will have so few social welfare legal aid cases left after the cuts that advice agencies won’t even be able to employ one full time adviser. This will effectively mean no face-to-face advice for people at 'risk of immediate loss of home' - the area that is being left in legal aid - in 30% of the country. Download the full briefing to find out how your area is affected.

Coverage on the web:
Justice for All has appeared on several blogs in the last week or two, including the TUC blog, Left Foot Forward, and the CWU youth blog. If you write for a blog, why not add something about Justice for All?
