A Note from Valerie
Dear Friends,

Tammy will be filling in for me this coming Sunday while I am Indiana attending the funeral of my father in law. She will be sharing a message entitled "Does our light still shine?" and exploring Matthew 25:1-13. She has provided some quotes (below) for you to reflect on today and in worship on Sunday. Many thanks to Tammie for stepping in.

Thanks are also due to all you SLCC'rs! I am very appreciative of the gift you gave me for my birthday and in celebration of pastor's appreciation month. I was able to enjoy a lovely day at the San Francisco Zoo with my beloved Adam. And we hope to take a visit to Children's Fairyland in Oakland some day soon. Many, many thanks for providing me the opportunity to explore the Bay Area, hand in hand with my grandson.

With joy and thanks for what God is doing at SLCC,
Valerie

Light gives of itself freely, filling all available space.  It does not seek anything in return; it asks not whether you are friend or foe.  It gives of itself and is not thereby diminished.  ~Michael Strassfeld

He that has light within his own clear breast
May sit i' the centre, and enjoy bright day:
But he that hides a dark soul and foul thoughts
Benighted walks under the mid-day sun;
Himself his own dungeon.
~John Milton

People are like stained-glass windows.  They sparkle and shine when the sun is out, but when the darkness sets in their true beauty is revealed only if there is light from within.  ~Elisabeth Kübler-Ross
