Ladies High Tea Event
On September 10th, Cynthia and the women of our church put on a fantastic outreach event for the community. If you're like me, you may not even know what a "High Tea" is, but it was a great success! Our church was filled to capacity with about 50 women--half from our church and the other half non-church friends that were invited to attend. A guest speaker challenged the women and the comfortable atmosphere provided a great opportunity for the ladies to talk about their faith, their families, and just feel special as they were served by myself (Jesse) and members of the youth group.
Family Weekend
This past August we continued our relationship with
Jim Newman and the Southern Cross Bible Institute by hosting a Family Weekend Seminar. Guest speaker and Director of
Person To Person Ministries, Kerry Allen lead 7 session covering topics such as marriage and parenting.
Soccer Team
Last month we concluded our soccer season by celebrating that we did not come in last place! Woo Hoo! While our athletic endeavor was a bit disappointing, one of our goals as a team was not. We had nearly half of our players who were not Christians and I am proud that our team was able to be a great witness to them. Even in our roughest matches, we had some great young people who showed Christ-like character and as a result, I believe they made a great impact on those other players.
Quest Youth Camp
We are very excited to take part in our first Quest Youth Camp this year. We will leave this Friday, the 30th of Sept. and stay until Monday. The theme for this year's camp is "Free Indeed - John 8:36." This camp was started by our friends and fellow missionaries, Tim and Dawn Yates. It is a unique opportunity that most Christian teens in Australia do not have. We have numerous teens from our own church attending who are believers but not yet made the commitment to become baptized disciples. Please be in prayer for this weekend as it is often a powerful time of spiritual growth for all who attend.
