MomsMatter In Your Inbox ... Our Weekly Newsletter bringing you the week's best content
Simon Says: Hello Again!

What a fun month it's been! With my amazing trip to England and Tracy's well deserved holiday down the coast, it's been quiet around Moms Matter headquarters - but we're raring to go into July with many fun things up our sleeves. Watch this space! :)

In the meantime, over the weekend I was pondering something a little more serious than upcoming events and new competitions. You see, the truth is that it's been a rather challenging time behind the scenes for my own mum's health these last few months, and when we finally had her home from the hospital it meant some changes that required some additional help to get her back on her brave little feet.

Well, the nursing agency sent a young nurses aid around to help out and get my mum comfortable. Her name is Nonkululeko and her name literally means "freedom" - which is lovely. But I struggled like mad to get it out sounding right. Possibly an understatement. It took the poor nurse writing it down and saying it a fair amount of times to get the rythmn of it. Now that's kind of embarassing, surely?

Yes, I've lived almost a decade in England and America, but my ear shouldn't be so untuned to African names as all that! The lady was even introduced by the nursing agent as "Freedom" because her real name was "too hard to pronouce." My mum insisted she teach us. Which is just like my mum. But it left me re-newed in my quest to refresh my primary school "hello good-bye how much" style Zulu. Or as I joked to my mum: "Zulu shouldn't be such Greek to me!"

So I've been asking around about Zulu lessons, and have been given a few great suggestions. A few teachers run classes in the afternoon that would be good for stay-at-home mums, however none of which so far account for working hours.

So if any of you have good suggestions for local Zulu lessons in Durban - please email me (simon@momsmatter.co.za) and we'll compile the offerings and publish them on the site next week. So if you know of anyone who is a good Zulu teacher and flexible about when to hold conveniently-timed classes we can certainly send them some business. In fact, if there's enough interest, we could even put a MomsMatter class together!

We'll keep you in the loop. In the meantime, if there's anything else specific you'd like to see in the newsletter that would make your week easier, remember to drop us an email.

Have a super weekend!

Moms Matter!
Simon
