Excited about ND Football this fall? So are we!
Our game watches will be held at two locations: RiRa in Midtown and the Wing Factory on Roswell Road. Events have been posted on the website and on our Facebook Page and we will be updating them as game times change throughout the season. Come support the team as we kick off over Labor Day weekend against Skip Holtz and South Florida. Think Lou is torn? We don't. GO IRISH!

Women Connect
Everyone is invited to Pizzeria Venti on Thursday, September 22 at 7:00 pm for a discussion of ND swimmer Haley Scott DeMaria's book "What Though the Odds". In it, she tells the incredible story of her recovery after the tragic bus accident in '92 where two ND swimmers lost their lives. Her story is so compelling that it's being turned into the 3rd major motion picture filmed on campus. For more details, click on the event details here.
After reading her book, come see Haley speak to the ND Atlanta Alumni club on Thursday, October 20. We are excited and honored to have her visit so get your tickets early! Contact ndatlantawomen@alumni.nd.edu for more information!

Recent Events
The past month was busy with ND Atlanta. To kick it off, the UND night was held at 103 West with Dolly Duffy, the new director of the ND Alumni Association. Then we wished the Class of 2015 good luck at Holy Spirit's McDonough Hall with the annual Student Sendoff. In terms of service for the month, over 10 volunteers helped cook dinner at our quarterly event with the Emory Ronald McDonald House.

Support the Peach State Scholarship!
15th Annual Peach State Golf Tournament - Remember this Sports Illustrated? Come see Tony Rice, ND '89 and quarterback of the 1988 National Championship team, on Monday, October 17, at the 15th Annual Peach State Golf Tournament. The tournament will be held at the Trophy Club of Atlanta and it's an event you don't want to miss! Registration begins at 11am with a shotgun start at 1pm. This is our primary means of funding club scholarships for Atlanta-area Notre Dame students so we hope to see you there. See our Tournament registration page for more details.
In addition to the Golf Tournament, support the scholarship fund through our annual raffle to win prizes of $1000, $500, and $250. Winners of the raffle will be selected at the golf tournament but do not need to be present to win. Tickets cost $5 or get six for $25. They will be available at all football game watches prior to the drawing, are available on the tournament registration page via PayPal, or you can email us.
Our featured newsletter banner this month is our inaugural Irish Dash which was held in August in Peachtree City. We raised well over $1000 for the Peach State Scholarship fund and had participants in the 5K, 10K, 30-mile bike, and 40-mile bike. Additionally, some of our team members placed in their age group so congratulations!
Thanks to everyone for your participation in these events and for your support of our local students. Our alumni, students, and parents of students understand that every little bit counts so thanks for your generosity!

Young Alumni
In August, the Young Alumni organized a well attended Happy Hour at Hand In Hand pub in Virginia Highlands, took 1st place in Trivia at Brookhaven's Hudson Grille, and painted the Dome one afternoon at Dip 'N Dab. See the masterpieces painted in the picture above the YA section. If you haven't attended one of the events, put September 15 on your calendar. We're headed to Cocktails in the Garden at the Atlanta Botanical Gardens from 6-10pm. If you haven't been before, you don't want to miss it. An evening at Havana Club is in the works so keep an eye out for details.
For updates, check out the Facebook Page or email ndatlanta@alumni.nd.edu as we'll be posting additional events as details are finalized.

ND Atlanta Sports
We have several active ND Atlanta Sports teams. This summer, the Irish co-ed softball team defended their title against Lourdes and suffered a 8-7 loss in the championship rematch. The team included the Mercedes brothers who ran like Lamborghinis, our "Weis-batter", and the fabulous females led by club President Lauren Fowler. We'll be organizing a basketball team this winter so look for more details. If you are interested in organizing other teams such as tennis, flag football, etc, please email us at ndatlanta@alumni.nd.edu.

Service Update
The Notre Dame Club of Atlanta is joining the Ready Campaign, founded after 9/11 to increase preparedness throughout all communities in the U.S., and is taking an active role in helping Atlanta and the north-Georgia area prepare for emergencies. Being prepared means having an emergency supply kit and having a plan for responding and reconnecting an emergency. For more free resources and information, visit http://www.ready.gov/. We’re taking steps as an organization to become better prepared and informed, and we urge you to take time to do the same at home and in our community.
Several months ago, we learned that only pre-registered volunteers are able to assist the Red Cross. To be better prepared in the future, please complete the form at http://www.atlantaredcross.org/pdf/2006ApplicationEnglish10.6.pdf and scan/email/mail a copy to Leo Desrosiers in order for us to coordinate this effort as a group.
We have also reached out to the USO to take steps to become a registered supporter for troops returning home from deployments. If you or any of your family members are interested in helping with that initiative, please contact Leo Desrosiers.
We continue to look for ways to expand our Club's community service projects. if you have any ideas on way we can do this, please share them with someone in the Club!
