We've settled in to Berlin and had our first European Regional Committee Meeting with our new ERC elected last October.

Minutes from the meeting will be found on our new website to be launched soon.

We hope that you will spread the call for Regional Secretary widely through your network and contact anyone you may know who may have the gifts and talents to suit this position. Any questions about the role can be directed to Sofie, the ERC Chairperson. The Lingua Franca Coordinator call has been extended until 29 February.

Guilty or Not Guilty?

Bratislava, Slovakia 27 March - 2 April 2012:
Do you feel guilty? Where does guilt come from? Is the legal always the moral? Does the immoral have to be illegal? Do you care? Come and explore with other young people from across Europe the Subjectivity and Morality and the Philosophy of Law. Please read and disseminate the Call for Applicants, the Financial Information, and the Application Form.

Staff and Officers Meeting

Bremen, Germany 23-26 February 2012: Are you on the board of your SCM? A staff person? The International Contact Person? Come join the WSCF Europe staff members and meet with other staff, volunteers and board members from around Europe who work in European SCMs. There will be plenty of opportunities for sharing the work you’ve been up to over the past year as well as learning new skills to take home. European Regional Secretary and WSCF Europe Campaigns Coordinator will attend the Advovcacy and Solidarity Meeting and the Global Staff and Officers Meeting in Nairobi, Kenya.
23-26 February: 
Staff and Officers of WSCF Europe and SCMs in Europe will gather in Bremen.

WSCF-E Job/Volunteer Opportunities

WSCF Europe Regional Secretary: The position of Regional Secretary for the Europe region of WSCF will be vacant as of June 1st 2012. The World Student Christian Federation (WSCF) therefore seeks applications for this challenging task based at the European Regional Office in Berlin, Germany. It is a full time, paid position.
Key duties and responsibilities: Responsibility for fund-raising, finances and administration; Networking with churches and ecumenical organisations; Supervising and support staff and co-operating with student volunteers; Preparing thematic conferences and training courses; Communication and publication tasks.
Applicants should be prepared to spend a considerable amount of time traveling within Europe and beyond, and should be able to plan their workload accordingly. Previous work experience in (inter)national ecumenical or church-related organisations would be appreciated. Salary information to be updated soon. More details and application form available here.

WSCF Europe Lingua Franca Coordinator:
The World Student Christian Federation—Europe seeks a suitable candidate for the volunteer position of Coordinator of the Lingua Franca Programme. The primary responsibility of the coordinator will be to oversee the development, execution and follow‐up of an ecumenical residential summer camp for between 20‐40 students (mainly from Central and Eastern Europe). The Lingua Franca Programme is focused on providing a space where: Students with fewer resources and opportunities can take part; Simple, clear English language is used; A focus is placed on providing practical ecumenical leadership training.

Against Landmines

Religions for Peace Campaign in Poland: Short film documenting the final action of the campaign against landmines, which took place in November 2011 in Poland. The campaign was organized by Religions for Peace, European Interfaith Youth Network, in partnership with Polish organization: Polish Red Cross, Jewish Association Czulent, Club of Catholic Intelligentsia in Warsaw. Action and Advocacy for Climate Change:

A Resource Guide for Religious Communities: Religions for Peace has created an action and advocacy guide as a testament to people of faith, who, motivated by their religious convictions, continue to care for the earth. Religions for Peace recognizes that religious leaders and communities are well equipped to respond to the climate crisis and hopes that you will use this guide in your congregations, youth groups and other settings.

Human Rights for Everyone? Right!

18-25 March 2012, Palermo, Italy: With this training course EYCE wants to deepen its focus on Human Rights Education, especially with regards to the rights of minorities, migrants and other oppressed groups in Europe and beyond, as well as training young people from church backgrounds to address these issues within their contexts. Bridging the Age Gap: working together to develop rural communities:Call for participants for seiminar15-22 April 2012 at the European Youth Centre Budapest, Hungary. The event aims to promote intergenerational solidarity in rural youth work as part of the 2012 European Year of Intergenerational Solidarity. “Bridging the age gap” aims to promote the social inclusion of rural young people through cross-generational projects. Participants will gain practical skills in project management as well as confidence to act as youth actors in their local communities. Please note that participants must be from youth organisations based in Europe. The Call and application form are available here. Call for contributions YO Magazine: Is are currently looking for contributions towards the Info Forum section of the next Youth Opinion. The aim of the section is to highlight youth events being organised by member organisations all across Europe. So, if you’re organising an event from April to August and you would like it to feature in YO mag, please e-mail Caoimh Kett with the relevant information. Deadline:8 February 2012.
