Welcome to the first issue of this newsletter on mountain and climbing photography!
Despite appearances here in Denmark, summer is well under way. In between photo projects and climbing trips, I finally managed to cross a very important item off my todo list: start a newsletter to keep people informed of what I am up to. I plan on sending one every 6 to 8 weeks with a selection of my latest images, latest news and personal projects and some plans for the future.
You are receiving this email either because you signed up for it on my website or because you were a client in the past and I thought this might interest you. Rest assured that I hate spam as much as you do, so if you want never to receive any email from this newsletter again, let me know right away (and please accept my apologies) or just follow the link at the bottom of this email.
If you are still reading, welcome. We're going to have some fun!

New River Rendezvous
For my first time climbing on the East Coast, I couldn't have dreamed of a better place than the New River Gorge. Though my personal climbing left to be desired (I blame jetlag, humidity and mosquitoes. Also, gravity), I had a lot of fun seeing some old friends and meeting many new ones while having a great time at all the parties. I also manage to shoot some amazing climbers on a variety of routes: Matt Segal on "Stretch Armstrong" (5.12a), Russ Clune on "Fuel Injector" (5.13b) and Matt Ginley on "The Freedom Tree" (5.14a) among others. Take a look at the full gallery from the event.

Swedish Weekend Warriors
Since Denmark is desperately flat, our salvation comes from daytrips to nearby Sweden, across the Øresund strait. A few weekends of June were occupied by climbing and shooting in the little know bouldering crag of Kjuge and its terribly sharp rock, as well as in the very loose and surprisingly bold seacliffs of Kullen. Featured included my first (Swedish) 7th grade trad lead, shortly after my 7th ever fall on trad gear (the cam held but got a serious dent!), as well as practice with strobes, always fun with bouldering since access to interesting angles is so much easier than with roped climbing. Have a look at the full gallery!

New and old clients
I am very happy to welcome some new clients:
-
Climber Magazine, in the UK, which featured a photo of Gareth Leah on the Welsh slate classic "Comes the Dervish" on the cover of their August issue.
-
Patagonia, most awesome outdoor clothing company, using a Chamonix image for their October workbook and perhaps posters as well.
-
Mountain Equipment used one of my Indian Creek images of their sponsored athlete Andy Turner in their new workbook.
-
Backcountry Magazine, with one of my favorite Chamonix photos.
I am always happy to work with Black Diamond, who will for the first time use one of my images in print. From their (badass) employee Russ Clune working a route on Seven Eleven Buttress, it will be featured in their next workbook.
Over the past few months, my work has been used in no less than four issues of the great UK Climb Magazine. A double treat since one of my personal photo heroes, Ian Parnell, is the new co-editor in chief.

Alpine fun in Chamonix
Chamonix is where I learned to love the mountains and where I feel most at home. A trip in mid-July to bag some alpine routes was surprisingly successful, considering the poor weather pattern, managing to bag not only some fun rock routes in the Aiguilles Rouges but also the very coveted Frendo Spur. After years of looking at the route every time I was coming up or down the Aiguille du Midi cablecar, it was a joy to finally get to climb this stupendous line of more than 1000 meters of rock and ice.
You can see a selection of images from the trip in the dedicated gallery.

Exciting Times
The next few months will see some major changes for me:
-
First and foremost, at the end of August, my time in Denmark will be over and I will move back closer to the mountains I love. Either Chamonix or the Swiss Alps, the jury is still out.
-
As an immediate consequence, it will be official: after years of semi-pro status, I will be a full time freelance mountain photographer. In particular, this means more time for assignment work (*wink* *wink*).
-
A major trip I have been dreaming about for years is about to start: on September 22nd, I will be flying to San Francisco to spend the fall in Yosemite with a Danish friend. Our plan is very simple: El Capitan. 'nuf said.
-
The AAC International Climbers Meet in Indian Creek two years ago was a defining moment for me and easily one of the most fun weeks of my life. I couldn't be happier to be attending again this year, especially since it will take place in Yosemite. Some of the plans for the week include a full photoshoot on Astroman, if I find people crazy enough to fix lines for me!

Just as a reminder, most of my image collection is available on the website Mountain Stock Images, fully keyworded, captioned and searchable. With e-shopping capabilities and a license prices for every imaginable usage, you don't even need to talk to me anymore (though of course, I always love hearing from you!).
