Dear Friends,
The autumn rolls on with a month of primary school bookings but just the one youth group weekend.
It is often the case when we get to November that the weekends tail off but, thankfully the schools keep filling the weeks right through until mid December.
Two new schools (well new to us) shared the Centre for the first week of November and thereafter we have had our long-standing friends from Birches Green, Erdington in Birmingham followed by some schools from the Chester area.
Having less weekend bookings gives us some extra opportunities for inviting the youth group we help with at Tywyn to come over and enjoy the place. Our fireworks evening was great fun and we find it rewarding to work with a group that we have known for a long period of time rather than those we only get to meet for a few days.
The Staff Team are enjoying this time of the year. Being off together at weekends gives them extra time to enjoy each other’s company and as many are working their way towards qualifications, the time together as a group plus the mild weather for this autumn has meant that log books are being filled more rapidly than they might otherwise have been.
The training time will also be helpful to those who will be attending training and assessment courses in the spring.
Having said that, they are also taking the time to get more fully involved in church activities and as I write, they are currently making a film of ‘extreme’ outdoor sports! When I tell you that one clip involves ‘extreme golf’ - it gives you some idea of the slant the guys are taking during the film making! No doubt viewings can be arranged sometime in the New Year.
Never a dull moment here at MYD!
Recently some members of the team attended the Youthwork Conference in Eastbourne. They found it inspiring, uplifting and a great motivation to them. We are thankful for the opportunities we have here in this area and, after years of groundwork, we are seeing breakthroughs in the lives of many local youth. Please pray for this aspect of the work and for our boundaries to be further extended as we reach out to those who live around this part of Wales.
Those that didn’t get to attend the conference helped to run ‘Children in Need’ night at the church in Tywyn. Pictures are on our Facebook page – try not to be too scared by the face painted MYD Manager you see staring back at you.
Thank you again to all who take the time to read our news, who pray for us and who continue to support us in so many different ways.
The next newsletter will be our Christmas ‘review of the year’ – available as a download on the website and also directly mailed to many whom have stayed at MYD over the years. We look forward to being in touch again soon.
With love from all the Team,
Pete & Susie
