Office Computers Stolen
A break in and theft of several systems from a local client could have resulted in serious difficulties for the company, had it not invested in a "belt and braces" backup routine.
Business Continuity is First Priority
In a situation like this, keeping the business running is our first priority and this begins with sourcing a suitable main system - on which to restore the company's data.
We strongly recommend that critical data - including the financial and accounts data - is automatically stored off-site using an Internet based backup provider. Then all other data is copied to external devices, which again are taken out of the premises.
In most cases we will also keep an image of the client's main system.

Accountants Protect Data
Leigh Broadway based Accountants, Buckley Watson, commissioned a 'belt and braces' backup solution last month with a brand new server and backup software package.
The server includes rebuildable RAID hard disks and a scheduled image of the system, while the backup software is used along side the LCS Assent Monitoring service which offers a 4 hour response to any failed backup report.

Blacklists Causing Email Problems
During October we had several calls from businesses who suddenly couldn't send emails. In some cases it was only certain recipients that were rejecting mail, in others it was all recipients.
On further investigation we found the issue to be Reputation Blacklists. Services that scan for spam emails and blacklist the IP address of the sender.
There are several possible ways to get onto a blacklist inadvertantly including a virus or trojan on the network.
We're please to say that all issues were resolved.
