Why are Science Fairs Important?
Science Fairs provide excellent afterschool educational experiences where students gain knowledge, confidence and skills to help them compete in a global workforce.
“Science fairs develop skills that reach down to everybody’s lives, whether you want to be a scientist or not,” says Michele Glidden, a director at
Society for Science & the Public, a nonprofit group that administers 350 regional fairs whose winners attend
Intel’s International Science and Engineering Fair, the world’s largest high school competition. “The point is to breed science-minded citizens.”
Students who complete science fair projects learn how knowledge is created and communicated with science.
What are science fair experiences like for students? To answer this question, WHY SCIENCE is sharing science fair achievement stories written by students with you.
